Missionary David S. Bush, 76, retired to Fort Wayne, Indiana, in 2024, from his work as a Career Missionary for The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod, Office of International Mission, after serving in Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan. He worked with The Lutheran Church—Hong Kong Synod at their Lutheran School for the Deaf. He continues to help the deaf school in Hong Kong from time to time.
He serves as president of the Concordia School for Special Education (CSSE), board of trustees, in Macau, SAR. He is vice-president of Concordia Welfare and Education Society of Macau, the management board of CSSE.
Missionary Bush is an active member of Ephphatha Lutheran Mission Society (ELMS) in Michigan, which focuses on missionary work with the deaf, and is a member of the board of directors.
Missionary Bush graduated in1978 from Concordia Theological Seminary, Fort Wayne. He served as a pastor of deaf and hearing congregations in Tennessee and Indiana, and taught “Deaf Ministry and Mission” and “American Sign Language” at Concordia Theological Seminary, Fort Wayne, for 15 years.
Missionary Bush is married to Barbara and, after 49 years of marriage, have four children, fourteen grandchildren, and one great grandson.
He has interpreted for many District and International LWML conventions in the past.
